The Tu-95 Bear Soviet bomber that was tasked with delivering nuclear warheads to North America during the 1960s.
Fallout Reporting Posts (FRPs) were established in rudimentary bunkers all across Saskatchewan in public structures. The FRP in Dorintosh was beneath the Natural Resources building. At Imperioal, the bunker was located downstairs in the RCMP detachment. The approximately 100 posts were built in any place that could be quickly accessed.
The stations were equipped with a spartan bunker with a bed and a few supplies. The key was the connection by radio, telephone, and even telegraph to central bases.
In the event of a nuclear attack, authorities would gather information from across the province with relative speed.
Dr. Andrew Burtch, a historian at the Canada War Museum, identified the post locations and placed them on the “Annihilation Map.”
